Anywho, here is a non-redesign, but good for the environment, post. If nothing else for good laughs, I say that because I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat and looking like a goober. In this particular photo, I was volunteering for the "North Carolina Senior Games" .
I went to a Health and Wellness fair with a friend, and he called me over to a booth by saying, "Hey look, here is your picture on the cover of this newsletter", I thought, huh? I walked over and sure enough it was me... I was shocked because, I didn't remember a camera crew snapping photos.

The booth representative said, "Oh it's on the front page of our website too". I went to the website and sure enough my picture was on the front page! I called events office and said hey, I don't remember a camera crew being there, and the young lady said, "Oh they weren't, the gentleman in the picture sent the photo in himself (he had his son taking pictures). The editors liked it decided to put it in a publication"... how cool!
The story: I was one of the three young ladies, giving out the medals in aquatics, and after every race he came out (we were in the lobby)to get his medal, he would only allow ME to give it to him. He said I inspired him to win....I am thinking back on it now, Could it be because i kissed him on the cheek vs, a hug? (he was always soaking wet when he came out)...as you can see he won 6 races! Yowza, that was a lot of my suga' to be giving away...he he he he

For the picture, he came out and insisted I display the medals, he was fun.
Here are some more photos from that newsletter.

Again, this volunteer gig, was a result of seeing some TV commercial and me being a

Post title...ME ME ME ME ME ME MEEEE..>!!!
How guilty am I of thinking that way, more often than not?
Today, I had a huge fire in my belly, that was getting out of control. I had to do something! It has a name it's called "Volunteerism". I LOVE to volunteer. You know that person who watches tv ads and at the end of the ad, they say, "call to volunteer", so they volunteer for lots of things? GUILTY!
I have volunteered, for tons of things from, holding sweet premature babies at a hospital NICU, for hours,.... to giving awards at Senior Games. You name it! I've helped build houses, held fundraisers, cooked food, given food and on and on....
I have recently been feeling the urge to volunteer again. Why? Because I haven't in almost two years now and my life feels devoid of something. I know we all get caught up in the economy, our jobs, our families and a ton of other things in a day. But it really makes a difference when you look outside yourself for a moment and help someone.
I can remember when I was growing up and we used to go to the South Phoenix-Salvation Army Center as kids, and there was a lady there who taught crafting, Linda Castillo. She taught us all kinds of crafts and was a listening ear, when we had something on our minds.
All of this is to say, I have been given so much as a child, from others and I want to "pay it forward".
What did I do about it you ask? I drove around and found three causes to volunteer for, Senior center, County Arts Council, and possibly a victim's advocate center. I am so very excited!
I will have more details soon...
With that in mind I just want to encourage you all to give of yourself in some way, daily. When you pour into someone's life, you really DO make a difference! It is also great investment in our future.
***3/25/09***Let me clarify something...because folks will take words and interpret them with their own motives, thoughts, and experiences. I volunteer, because I have the time to share. If you are busy with your family, by all means, do not take away from them to volunteer elsewhere. Invest that time in your family. My boys have so much of my attention and time, they encourage me to go out and do other things. I choose to volunteer.***
***Because blogger saves drafts and puts the date you draft it vs. the date you actually post it, I will add dates like a journal******
