Biding Tine...

 photo via Tine K's website
Remember I told you about Duncan Phyfe and copying? Well... this is what I have been doing while being held captive in a hotel room for two weeks...(Still not in a state of mind to tell the "why" of it yet...but I promise I will), copying Tine K lampshades "getting my Duncan Phyfe on"! I love the idea of "High Design meeting the handmade". Talk about redesign LOVE!!

Here is a pendant lamp I made for a client. Not just the lampshade.
  Closer view

Here it is pictured on a lamp to show the sheer properties, like Tine's.

I like her style. This copy of Tine K's work, is very different in at least one way. Hers is made from linen fabric and mine is made from polysilk..what? Never heard of polysilk? that's because I made it up... I thought it sounded better than plilk...seriously.

The name for this piece is Grace, because it is gorgeous and a very graceful piece. Hope my client enjoys it! Wadda you think?

Incognito...

First, I apologize for being away from my blog and yours...But I have good reason, over the past two weeks I have been abruptly, uprooted from my home and living in a hotel.  I am contemplating when I will tell the story of why. But I have not been myself lately, and have been living off of anxiety and lots of prayer(oxymoron, i know), while looking for a suitable home, in a safe neighborhood. But today, I saw a beam of light in this tunnel of a life I have been living...I found a new place for us to live. I'm excited!

Why?...

Because the houses I could afford were not too great...When inquiring about places, on the net, that I could afford, they suggested "I drive by and take a look first..."HUH? Well, eventually I found out that that means, in those neighborhoods, nighttime is for working and not sleeping---, I thought we were going to get shot when we were trying to find a house in the dark one night..apparently, we were driving too slow by a potential house. And I said aloud, AH HELLS NO! My son looked at me and I looked back with one raised eyebrow, he knew I was sorry for the cursing, but I meant it.

Well the one I found today is a keeper, I even took the 'For Rent' sign out of the window. It is ours! It only costs one dollar more than what we were paying...woot woot! It won't be ours to own, but it will be home for a while. I will tell you about it soon, k? Thanks for stopping by
