DIY Spring Gardening Day 1
Here is another way to "stretch your dollar until the eagle smiles". Composting. I became a fan after planting my own tomato plants last year, I wanted all natural fertilizer I could make on my own(of course). My choice? Worm poop! I wanted some so bad it was unreal. Why worm poop? Worm poop is what you get after the worms eat all your garbage scraps and then they poop. You mix it with a bit of water and add it to your soil. It's called compost tea.... The process is called vermicomposting. It is a really healthy way to bring dead things back to life(only plants people), according to Tom Szaky (I liked the book in spite of the reviews, he talks like me and that is the way to write a book, I thought it was a funny page turner). Just remember no fats, oils, or animal parts(meat).
Composters cost on average between $20(inside)-$300(outside) depending on if it is an inside or outside composter, and size matters... You can also make your own composter. I made my own on a very small scale last year and put it into the soil of my plants and the nutrients lasted the entire gardening season.
If I had used more, my veggies would have been larger, but hey it was trial and error so now I know. I got worms from my local agricultural supply and composted in a dark corner of my kitchen in a plastic container. But after the first go round, I killed my worms by putting too much crap in my container. The liquid got too soggy, and drowned my poor worms.AAAAAAAAWwwww......
Here is the inside, I have eggshells, all my unused veggies, leaves, old gardening soil. I basically put anything that comes from the ground back into it.I am supposed to make it into smaller pieces, but I don't. Hell the first time I "turned" this thing, was right after I took this picture so whatever.
Note: you should turn your compost every two to four weeks.
However, the nice little earthworms have been doing their thing over the winter, because i already have black gold
It is the stuff under the leaves, you mix it with soil to give your garden some kick-arse nutrition! After it rained last week, my son and I went out picking up worms for fishing. I was going to stash them in the composter until ready for use, and much to my surprise, there were some lil crawlers already living in my composter...MMMM yummy!
From the looks of it, I can start my own worm supply!..anywho stay tuned. For tomorrow, I tell you what I did with these...
Do you compost or are you starting a garden? I would love to know about it.

So I went for it...
Remember last week I posted a quick note about Apartment Therapy hiring bloggers? Initially, I was not going to try for it because I figured I already had too much to do. ... well those jokers extended the deadline to Wednesday the 17th, tonight at midnight. I'll be darned, if I couldn't sleep without at least trying, so I spent the past two days creating a resume (I have been sooo self employed, that I forgot what one even looked like), submitting three posts, (with pictures remember the pictures I use here are usually my own so I had to track down the original source for the ones I found on google. ..."photo piracy" all I'm saying) and an idea for a column.
Let me tell you, day one was almost a nightmare...talk about stress! but today was much easier because Photoshop cooperated with me. At the end, I was so proud of my work, that I will absolutely show you what I submitted here on my site, if I am not chosen. I think it was so cool and it ended up being fun! So at the end of all this two day, stressfilled, drama induced, I need a drink to even sleep, ordeal...this is what I received after clicking "submit".
lol...I am still laughing!
New post coming soon

Furniture market is coming soon!!
So last Fall was my very first time at the High Point Furniture Market. Now, I am hooked and cannot wait for this year's Market. I soo look forward to hanging out with my cool buddy, Donovan Swick. This dude is the "sun in my sunshine"!. His unique style was so refreshing, he caught my eye. Now if you have been to market, you can relate, for everyone else, I am just gonna say it, I was bored and feeling "cookie cutterish", until this spring of life, was spotted! People, I was bedazzled!
I noticed him from across the room and my heart leaped...(yes I said it). I walked right over to him and said, "I don't know who you are, but I have to take your picture, Can I? He was so sweet, he said, "of course". (that one came out blurry so i had to delete it) And my, oh my, how all eyes were on him!!! Mostly snooty stuffed shirts, with their noses so high in the air, I was wondering where the strings were...*love you, stuff shirts, mean it!!*
I hate that I missed celebrating his b-day with him, that night. But I was so ill, I was barely even there, at market, and could not go. However, I did see him the next day, and he looked just as vibrant as the day before, just sunshine y'all, pure joy!
Even with status, Donovan is one of the coolest people at Market. If you don't know him, walk up and introduce yourself. He is genuine. He has a presence that makes you notice that he is absolutely blessed, and is humble enough, to call his gifts blessings. Here is one of my favorite pictures, two of the most sincere, handsome men I met there...Jonathan Reeves and Donovan Swick.
Now here are some of his designs from HGTV.
This one is my favorite eclectic....mmmmm From His Southwestern room to his Romantic room, I love how he infuses deep rich furniture into his designs, like his room stabilizer, oh yeah, they call that an anchor, huh? ...anywho

Again, two eco-conscious designers, with pure heart! I can't help but swoon over people, who make the most of reclaimed materials. It is a true talent, to create works of art and sustainable designs. These two have it in the bag!
Now, check out this table on his blog it is the TRUTH!
xoxo see you soon, guys!

Really Really Free Market!!
I think this is a very cool idea and it was fun for me
If you didn't already know, I am a freegan(except when it comes to food, not quite there yet).
NOTE: Do not get that confused with Vegan, because I enjoy chicken, fish, and the animal featured in, an occasional, BK Whopper.
After I snapped this shot, I dove into that book table!
It was good to see other kids enjoying the market....(of course they were not teenagers)
Here is where I found my two brand new copies of "The best Martha Stewart", she is not my favorite, but hey it was free!
Kid No. 2 found these New Nikes, I was not a fan, and they were too big(11.5), so I made them stay there!
So here is a worldwide link to Really really free markets, maybe you can attend or even start one?? Thoughts??

Paid Freelance Writing Position- HURRY!
Ok fellow bloggers, I know how you love to post your high tech pictures, display your handywork, and then take time to write about it all. Well here is your chance to GET PAID, while reaching millions of readers!! Alright, ok, I am not sure how many readers you will reach, but it is paying blog gig, so why not?
Yeah, yeah, I know you have all those clever google ads and they are all nice and compliment your subject(dont' you hate seeing a good ad, and remembering you "agreed" not to click on any of your own ads, so you dont?...UGH!), and as soon as, a million people click them you will get a $10 check in the mail (supposedly).Well maybe this will work out a bit better.
Re-Nest is looking for part time writers for their site. They are the ecofriendly/D-I-Y/green version of all things wonderful. If you don't already know (shame on ya) re-nest is an affiliate of -- yup-- Apartment Therapy! Now, if I had to tell you that, then maybe you should not be writing for them..das right I said it.
I think it is a cool opportunity so check it out here . and good luck! Hurry the deadline for submissions is March 14th.
Are you gonna go for it? Let's discuss???
PS if you become a writer hook a sista up wit some featured items, k?

Advertising on a dollar- Literally!
Here is the coolest thing I got from this lil genius. He said, "Mom I saw a YouTube video, where they advertised on a dollar. It was cool"!
Of course, I questioned writing on money and he told me that the rules are: you cannot write on any part that covers the denomination of the bill, or on the seal.
So, I remembered this handy lil item I bought at a yard sale for $.10 yes it says a dollar, but the sale was nearing it's end and they wanted to get rid of it, so it was $.10 (It was used by one family and was in great condition, I thought, DEAL!)
The most time consuming part, of this whole process, was setting this thing up. Pinching those tiny rubber letters with tweezers( I felt like a friggin' surgeon), making sure I wasn't stamping backward (yeah it started that way, luckily hindsight wasn't being a bitch to me and clued me in after 5 letters), and that whatever I put on it wasn't too long, for the stamp. Here is what I came up with.
After practice and reloading the stamp with ink, I was a stampin' fool. Next kid no.2 (I only call him that in public) told me I had to go to the gas station and exchange my 20's for ones and stamp them all ... I thought oh hell's no! but I said, "How's about, we go spend some duckets and we will take the stamp with us, and as I break 20's, we will stamp the dollar bills?" So we spent the day spreading the redesigndiva word all over Spring Lake, Mebane, Sanford, and Burlington, NC.
Here is another version. I figured if you dont have a stamp you can simply do this...
There it is folks, "advertising on a dollar". This is cool because it is a recycle project, as money is the only thing that goes away and comes back at a greater frequency rate than Jay Leno on Late night tv..(sorry had to get that in there).
Wadda ya think?
