"Waste not, want not"...pie baked in a jar!

Why didn't I think of that?...

If you have this...

leftover pie crust(optional) and some of these...

You can do this...

then this...

to create this 100 calorie (or less)...pie in a jar.

ok, seriously I have no idea how many calories this thing has. Just put your leftovers in a jar already! Top it with a easy to make crumb topping, put the mason lid on and FREEZE for up to 6 months. When you are ready to have pie, simply pop it into a 375 degree oven, bake for 35-45 minutes...and enjoy!

Odd but, the frozen jar will not break, go ahead try it!

I used the smallest mason jar they carry (4oz). Some leftover sweet potato pie filling, and leftover crust I had in the fridge. I am giving this for gifts, along with my Southern praline pecans...

I eat these pecans on just about everything! Yogurt, Oatmeal...

Now the shameless plug...You can purchase the pecans in my etsy store...

This baked pie in a jar, is a great idea and all credit for it, is going to these folks, I even got the crumb topping recipe from there. Delish!

Any waste not want not tips or ideas, you care to share with us? Please send the info in a comment so we can go to your page!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This lil' Diva went to market...High Point Furniture Market -Day 1

Where to start! It was amazing to watch the transformation from a city that is lifeless on any other day, turn into a mecca for shopping! I live 45 minutes from High Point and I go there often for materials. It is disheartening, to drive through downtown, during the weekdays. It feels hopeless...even with all the great fabric and supply stores. That's because most of them are only open during the Market which takes place twice a year.

There was a plethora of exhibitors, setting up shop, staging, unpacking, and just filling the air with an aura of, "this year is going to be successful". You could sense the hope and anticipation all through the streets. North Carolina workers who hadn't had jobs for months, were hired on a temporary basis and were smiling and working hard. Store owners looked rejuvenated. I am not sure if it was because of the fact, that is was the Markets 100th anniversary, or if people were just happy to showcase their goods, but they were friendly and jovial!

so.... Me and my skater kid, went perusing and touring snapping shots here and there.

There were vintage shops...

Traditional shops...

Kids shops...

There was a bit of everything. Well if ya know me, I was scoping out the packing materials left over, hoping to find some good things, I could reuse...and sho' nuff I did. We found these very sturdy pressed, processed wood pieces that looked like picture or even art frames to me, so that is what i shall use them for...isn't he dreamy?

Here are some more photos I took for inspiration...see if you can get anything from them.

It was sooooo much fun! I will tell more in the next few posts. I met designers galore, went to seminars, was wined, and dined, for free! I was even kissed by a rising designer!...shhhh! Stay tuned for details! More to come!

It is what it is...peace out Ms Goody Two shoes!

no more tip toe, eggshell, writing. clicks suck and i hate politics. I prefer the i'm gonna be me approach. it doesn't mean i am going to be crass, crude or crazy. but it will reflect me. *****picture some chocolate pecan, croc wearin' feet right about ....here****** (if I found it on google). the fact that i like some things and others, not so much. it is more comfortable than trying to take on THAT 6 inch stance .... just effin uncomfortable! plus i am chocolate anyway!

i will share with you one of the funniest blogs i read when i have time. i don't need a bookmarked list to check hers out,she is memorable and just hilarious! now it is not for the sensitive folks at all. but it is definitely entertaining and revolves mostly around decor. Jen tells it like it T-I-S, she says things we are afraid to say and she does it in her own voice. for that, she has earned a position writing for HGTV's Jon Gidding. ole fine azz

Jen has absolutely inspired me to be me, when writing. THANK YOU, GIRL!

gone are the days of strict etiquette and writing what people think i should write. i tried that and it doesn't work.it leaves me feeling "some kinda way". i encourage you to be you, do you, say what you think, regardless...you never know who may see past all the "commonspaceblog" boring, "I only came to see the pictures", rhetoric and notice you! Peace out Ms Goody Two Shoes! Ya Trick!
