Story: I was lost in a small, frightful town, here in NC. There were some really cute antique shops there. The people who ran them were very friendly. UH oh, back to my story...As I was driving through, I noticed a huge pile of furniture tossed out. It all looked pretty good, so I swooped the Kia around, to get a closer look. I am learning to pick things up, as I see them and not do the usual, "three drives-by, do I really want it?, will anybody see me?" routine. I saw this cute table, I loved the legs on it and thought what a great body this piece had. I shoved it into the back seat of my truck, asked for directions, then booked it out of that small, dreary feeling town.
Well here is the before picture of it.
See those sleek legs? Arent they screaming, "use me, dress me, Show me off!"?
I am not a huge fan of straight legs, I love the angled look.
The person who had this baby before me, tried to paint it black but it looks like they got tired half way through...
I love the underbelly of this thing,
See the nail holes and the raw wood? Well I found no signature or "made by" thingy on it, so I take it that a "nobody" just like me, wanted a cool table, and made one.
I am guessing it has no antique value because it was already painted when I found it so why not, make it purty;)?
I gave it a fresh coat of black paint and sealed it. Now if you didn't know I hate hindsight, she is a real beeyotch! I hate her and she hates me! So I started painting the table legs, while they were still attached, not knowing they just screw off! DUH!
I over sprayed the bottom, on two of those, real disappointment. I unscrewed the other two legs and just sanded the over spray off. Hindsight, hoochie!
I really wanted to use this flashing I have had for two years, too long.
Oh don't feel so bad for the flashing, it got its revenge! I had to try to bend this beautifully hammered piece onto this table. It put up a fight too! I would not give up...I am "THAT CHICK"!
Here is the final project.
