NO SEW UPHOLSTERY!!!

Ok, folks this one is for my girl Jaime G. She always says she wants to try something new, but doesn't know how to sew. Well you know me I had to put it to the test. So here is the picture of my finished "no sew upholstery" project.

This is not meant to replace an upholsterer. I definitely don't want to take food from anyone's mouth. But it is dedicated to those who want something new and have no sewing skills. Now to "beat a dead horse", here is the story of this armchair.

Here is a picture of it in limbo, after the latex paint is wearing down and it has been sat on, by friends in wet swimsuits, by the dog and I think participated in an art project (see red marker)....

This chair is like the Energizer bunny.....Well worth the $15 I paid for it.

Here is another look they had,

Wow, what a couple of yards of fabric and some glue can accomplish!

I am not a fan of things that intimidate me, and upholstery work does. I have to conquer and explore to overcome that fear so... I had to figure a way around upholstery and come up with something worth looking at. I am cool with how it turned out, so I think I will leave it like this for a bit....

Jaime, show me something! Or give me the recipe to fish tacos...

Anything you have conquered lately? Care to share?

A little help here!

Hey, now that I have your attention, I need some advice. I bought a chaise and am having limited fabric avail to refinish it. I just want your opinion on what colors you think I should do this thing in. Now Here is a picture of it as it is now.

Keep in mind that I have already had a hard time getting this to fit it into my door. It measured 38" by 38". MY DOOR WAS ONLY 34 3/4" yikes! Well I am sure my neighbors got quite a laugh, when they saw me and my 12 year old trying to shove this big ole thing through the door, for at least 30 minutes. We pushed, pulled, moaned and groaned, but it wasn't giving in. Well, not to be outdone by an object, I thought, "well I haven't done anything to this yet" so....I had a remedy for that...BIG BOY!. That is what I call my Power saw.

We cut some pieces in half pushed and squeezed and had it inside in ten minutes...YUP, I dont' play! I brought it in and cut out about an inch of the pieces I had already sawed through, and nailed them back together, so when I take it out, it will not be such a task. Whew!

It doesn't look so bad from the front and after I cover it, no one will know. Well except you and the other three people who read my blog...

Now that this lovely piece is back together it is ready for some fabric lovin'...Here are my choices......

Brown with pattern

Green with brown...

Green with pattern...

Or I can do all green as I have enough fabric for that, but I think it would be boring...although you know boring and I do not mix, so I was thinking that if I had to go green (pun intended), then I would just paint on some words, like love, joy, peace, rest, relax, smile, happy, love, etc...that would just take quite a while.

What do you think?

Stay tuned for the outcome! I hope to have it finished by the weekend. I will also show you what I did and how I did it. You know I am not an upholsterer at all! So my goal is to tack and glue/pin this thing to death, making the fabric easily removable, and interchangeable. But my guests will be "none the wiser". Stay tuned!
