NO SEW UPHOLSTERY!!!

Ok, folks this one is for my girl Jaime G. She always says she wants to try something new, but doesn't know how to sew. Well you know me I had to put it to the test. So here is the picture of my finished "no sew upholstery" project.

This is not meant to replace an upholsterer. I definitely don't want to take food from anyone's mouth. But it is dedicated to those who want something new and have no sewing skills. Now to "beat a dead horse", here is the story of this armchair.

Here is a picture of it in limbo, after the latex paint is wearing down and it has been sat on, by friends in wet swimsuits, by the dog and I think participated in an art project (see red marker)....

This chair is like the Energizer bunny.....Well worth the $15 I paid for it.

Here is another look they had,

Wow, what a couple of yards of fabric and some glue can accomplish!

I am not a fan of things that intimidate me, and upholstery work does. I have to conquer and explore to overcome that fear so... I had to figure a way around upholstery and come up with something worth looking at. I am cool with how it turned out, so I think I will leave it like this for a bit....

Jaime, show me something! Or give me the recipe to fish tacos...

Anything you have conquered lately? Care to share?

So, wait, hold the phones, because I am phobic of sewing--you just glue the fabric directly onto the furniture? And I can do that with my skanky old armchair, loveseat and couch set? My cushions are attached to the frame, so do you just glue as far down into the cracks of the cushions as you can? Because this looks great! Thanks for any tips.

Serena, yes, pretty much. depends on how attached you are to the piece. If it does not come apart, definitely glue it to the existing fabric. You cant remove it for washing, but it will definitely be an improvement.

If you can stuff it do that...as in use an old papertoewl holder and push the cloth even further into the seats, if necessary buy some upholstery pins to hold it together.

Good luck and I want to see a pic.
